Southwest Wisconsin Catholic Parishes: St. Mary's, Bloomington; St. Charles, Cassville; St. Mary's Help of Christians, Glen Haven & St. John's, Patch Grove

Welcome to our joint parish website!

Dear parishioners,

I joyfully am planning to offer public Mass at all four parishes starting the weekend of May 30 & 31. I will be following the regular weekend schedule and Mass times. However, the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass will be in BLOOMINGTON EVERY SATURDAY until the redecorating of St. Charles Church is completed (in several months). We will have Mass on Sunday morning in St. Charles school gym, but its capacity honoring social distancing is one half the number that can worship at Bloomington. I believe that it is prudent to provide the additional capacity for Saturday afternoon Mass at St. Mary’s, Bloomington until St. Charles Church is open again. Please observe all recommendations on social distancing. If you have a fever, cough, or are not feeling well, please stay home.

Guidelines for the Resumption of Public Masses

So many of you have expressed your longing to come to Mass again and receive the Holy Eucharist. With the guidance of the Diocese of Madison and adapting to our church buildings and community these are some of the procedures and policies we will follow during this trying time.

1. Since there is a restriction on the number who can attend each Mass because of social distancing and since some are much more vulnerable to the virus, Bishop Hying is dispensing the Sunday Mass obligation through at least the end of June.

2. We will try to maintain social distancing of six feet between persons who are not living in the same household. To accomplish this, we ask you to follow these procedures:

*We ask you to use every other pew as designated. A larger family can use a whole pew and smaller families and individuals should locate themselves toward the end of the designated pew.

*For the distribution of communion, I will direct one side to come up for communion and then the other side, always keeping social distance. During this phase of returning to public Mass, I will be one only one distributing Holy Communion.

*Ushers will be available to provide guidance in each church.

*Since I will be having the five Masses each weekend, I encourage some of you to attend Mass at Glen Haven on Saturday evening since it normally has significant extra space on an average weekend.

*Please respect the need that other people have for social distance since they may be more vulnerable to the effects of the virus, but desire to receive the sacrament.
